Invitation to London Councils’ Science Technology Engineering and Maths (STEM) conference

London Councils’ Science Technology Engineering and Maths (STEM) conference

Tuesday 27th November, 10am – 3.30pm

At: The Wellcome Collection, 183 Euston Road, London NW1 2BE

London faces a substantial skills shortage in a range of STEM industries, including computing, life sciences and engineering. Given the anticipated challenges facing London there is a significant need to address the capital’s future skills needs in STEM industries, specifically inspiring and engaging more young Londoners into these careers. Supporting more young Londoners into STEM careers will help deliver the diverse talent pipe-line London’s knowledge economy requires.

This conference will enable business and education leaders to discuss the opportunities that already exist and find new ways of collaborating. Delegates will be able to hear from a range of exciting speakers from the world of STEM and business. There will also be an opportunity for business leaders and senior London local government representatives to network, exploring innovative local ideas for young people to cultivate an interest in STEM careers.

Speakers include Council leaders and chief executives, as well as senior business representatives across life sciences, tech and built environment, plus key organisations directly delivering STEM educational activities.

Full agenda details and to register are on-line, (or RVSP Daniel.Howard-Schiff@londoncouncils.gov.uk).

If you are unable to attend, please feel free to forward the invitation to a colleague with interest or accountability in this area.
