Enfield Council issues “Call for Sites”
As part of the plan making process Enfield Council is undertaking a ‘Call for Sites.’ They are inviting anyone with an interest in land, potential sites and broad locations for development to submit them for consideration.
Enfield has an identified need to provide an additional 50ha of land for industry and logistics over the plan period – they are therefore especially keen to hear about sites which have potential to accommodate employment activities. Enfield also welcomes the submission of sites suitable for office uses in town centres. The Publication London Plan also identifies a need for Enfield to deliver 1246 homes per year so they also want proposals to come forward for small and medium sites for housing particularly in the built-up areas of Enfield.
The purpose of the call for sites is to establish what land is potentially available in the borough. The land submitted will form an important part of the evidence base that underpins the spatial pattern of development included in the Local Plan.
Enfield Council will then assess all the sites received for their suitability for inclusion in the Local Plan Review. Submitting a site through the call for sites does not mean the council will include it in their Local Plan Review or grant planning permission on it in the future. It will give them a starting list of sites to consider.
A previous call for sites was an important early step in the review of the new Local Plan, which was open between 5 December 2018 to 6 March 2020. If you have previously submitted your site, and there is no material change to your last submission, Enfield Council does not require anything further from you. However, if you have new sites to submit, or would like to provide updated information please do so.
Responses are required by no later than Friday 26 February 2021. Responses after this date will be accepted on an ongoing rolling basis. However, where sites are received after work on a Housing and Economic Land Availability Assessment (HELAA) update has already commenced Enfield will include sites within the next HELAA update unless there are exceptional circumstances.
