Packaging at a Turning Point

Navigating regulation, risk and resiliance
Location: IET London: 2 Savoy Place, London WC2R 0BL
Date: July 2nd, 2026
Time: 6.00pm
Packaging regulation is no longer about waste management alone. It now encompasses design requirements, material sourcing, traceability, recyclability, reuse targets, chemical safety, deforestation obligations, and corporate sustainability reporting. For executives across every sector, this is no longer a compliance checkbox, it is a strategic and operational imperative.
.
Regulatory risk is accelerating globally
North America is intensifying EPR rollout and states like California pushing for 100% of plastic packaging to be recyclable or compostable by 2032. UK and Europe are rolling out and strengthening newer and more robust regulations with examples like the PPWR introducing mandatory recyclability performance grades, minimum recycled content thresholds, and reuse targets. Asia-Pacific markets are also tightening requirements with countries like Japan, South Korea and Australia introducing recyclability requirements. Proactive action is now beyond a complian
ce obligation and license-to-operate question. It is a fundamental business and competitive capability.
.
Why attend
This roundtable will tackle the challenges that matter most to executives navigating this complex landscape. The discussion will be held under Chatham House Rule to encourage candid, strategic conversation in a collaborative spirit. We’ll examine:
  1. Impact: How are PPWR and similar regulations affecting your products, services and operations, and what does non-compliance really cost?
  2. Response: What strategies are leading organisations taking – from EPR registration and packaging redesign to recycled content integration and reporting?
  3. Systemic change: Where do the deepest challenges lie and what can industry collectively do to drive solutions that are compliant and commercially viable?
The session will conclude with networking drinks, offering the opportunity to connect with peers and exchange real-world experiences.
