Dugdale Centre theatre transforms into Covid-19 NHS vaccination centre
The Dugdale Centre theatre in Enfield opens as a Covid-19 vaccination centre run by North Middlesex University Hospital from this week.
People in priority groups set by the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation, including people over 70 years of age, frontline healthcare staff and clinically extremely vulnerable people, will be first to be vaccinated at the centre as part of the NHS vaccination programme.
The Dugdale Centre, which normally hosts a number of theatre productions, will now have capacity to vaccinate hundreds of people a day. It will be overseen by the community services team at North Middlesex University Hospital and will be staffed by hospital clinicians, as well as additional volunteers who have all received NHS training in safely administering vaccines.
People will be contacted by the NHS when it’s their turn to be vaccinated so you shouldn’t seek a vaccine before then, as the centre will not be operating on a “walk in” or “on request” basis. We do not anticipate any disruption to those who live or work near the site.
Maria Kane, Chief Executive of North Middlesex University Hospital, said: “Opening a vaccination centre in the heart of Enfield is an important milestone in our efforts to protect as many people as possible from coronavirus. I would like to thank everyone involved in setting it up and encourage everyone who is invited to have a vaccine to take it up, while continuing to follow guidance to reduce transmission of the virus.”
As the national vaccination programme evolves and expands, so will the Dugdale Centre, offering vaccinations to residents in the local community in Enfield and Haringey according to Government prioritisation.
